Nationwide Homebrewed Beer Tastes Like Crap

Uploaded on October 27, 2005 by ddbon FlickrSturgis Hambone used to spend his Saturdays kicked back and enjoying Busch Series racing and downing some cold Busch beers.  Those were days he remembers fondly.  But those days are gone.  Now Hambone spends his Saturdays enjoying the same Busch beer but now he watches Nationwide Series racing.  A practice that Hambone says leaves him with a bad taste in his mouth.  “It just ain’t right,” Hambone said as he shook his head in disappointment. “It don’t feel right at all.  Sure the racin’s still great but I miss me my beer.  It just don’t taste the same to me.”  Never one to sit back and do nothing, Hambone decided to take matters into his own hands.  Hambone recently purchased a kit that held the promise of brewing his own beer at home.  After installing his new beer brewing operation in his basement, Hambone was ready to launch production of his signature brew, Nationwide Beer.

However, the practice of home brewing was not quite as simple as Hambone had thought.  His initial recipe combined hops and barley with Listerine and battery acid.  “Right out of the box I had me one big disaster on my hands, not to mention second degree burns on account of the acid,” Hambone recalled.  After a brief stay in the hospital Hambone took another crack at brewing his way back to racing enjoyment but his second effort ended as same as the first and resulted in another trip to the hospital to have his stomach pumped.  “They really oughta print a bigger label on Draino that says you ain’t supposed to drink it,” Hambone added.  “I reckon I’ll just keep it simple next time around and just put in the traditional ingredients, you know, hops, barley, sawdust and Nyquil.”
