Construction at the NASCAR Hall of Fame is well underway, and NASCAR fans have a unique opportunity to help build the new hallowed halls for motorsports’ greatest series. Fan reaction has not been strong, however, to the chance to sponsor a brick in the Jeff Gordon Pavillion.
Clunk Stutterbutter is in charge of laying the five-million-brick outdoor rainbow-themed pavillion, planned to host an exhibit featuring several versions of the 24 car, an inflatable Pepsi can, and a replica façade of Gordon’s
Stutterbutter explained the problem: “It’s pretty simple. We’ve only got two bricks donated for the Jeff Gordon Pavillion so far. If it keeps up like this, most of the pavillion is fixing to be dirt – more than 99.99 percent of it, in fact.”
Stutterbutter held up one of the two bricks that have been donated.
“We got this one right away,” holding out a green brick paver etched with the words, “Jeff’s #1 Fan – First and Always – Love, Mom.”
“I mean, that’s a pretty nice example of what you can do with your sponsorship. You can write a nice remembrance of a race you watched Jeff win, or just put your name on it, or do something nice for Jeff.”
When we asked to see the other brick, Stutterbutter grimaced and held out a blue paver he’d had behind his back since we started our interview. Emblazoned on it was the message, “F*ck you, Gordon – You Suck – And You’re a P*ssy”
“We planned to put that one under a tire, but now we’re going to need at least two more donors to step forward and donate bricks for the Jeff Gordon Pavillion,” Stutterbutter lamented. “Either that, or Dale Jr. is going to have to start winning races again.”
