The #87 FrontRowJoe.Com Toyota was, as they say in the NASCAR garage, bad fast. Joe Nemechek’s face peeled back from the amount of speed and g force pushing back on his face. It was like his cheeks were reaching for his ears just to have something to hold on to. His car hadn’t performed like this in a long while. Although he knew it was bad luck, Nemechek thought to himself, ‘I could actually finish in the top 40 this week.’ Almost immediately things began to take a turn for the worse. The car seemed to be spinning out of control. With all his might Nemechek tried to right the ship. Sweat poured down his face. Nausea set in. Finally the #87 pulled from the track after only completing 48 laps. Equipment failure? Nemechek wishes. His body had failed him. Yet another week of succumbing to car sickness.
While car sickness afflicts almost 1 in every 100 adults in the
“To say my driving hasn’t been affect by carsickness would be a lie,” continued Front Row. “I would have liked to complete 70 or maybe 80 laps at Auto Club Speedway last week but it just wasn’t in the cards. I’m not going to try and be a hero out there. My body told me to call it a day after 48 laps so I did just that.”
Nemechek’s effort wasn’t for nothing. As the 40th place finisher in Sunday’s race, Nemechek will pocket $80,250, an amount he says he will donate to carsickness research.
“Just to be clear, I do keep the money myself but that’s only because I am the world’s foremost expert on carsickness,” explained the World’s Foremost Expert on Carsickness and driver of the FrontRowJoe.Com Toyota. “For instance, most folks know car sickness gets worse when you ride in the backseat of the car or even in the front seat if you are reading. But what most people don’t know is that you can get really carsick driving around in circles? That’s what my research has uncovered. The money is being well spent.”
Joe Nemechek never expected to find himself at the forefront in the battle against an ailment that affects so many people. But, the man known as Front Row Joe, is proud to be the leader.
“I’m on the front line in the battle against car sickness,” said the Head Cheese of NEMCO Motorsports. “For all of those people out there burdened by this terrible affliction, I want you to know the Front Row Joe has your back. You all just go ahead and line up behind old Front Row. I’m going to lead us to a cure.”
